URŠKA MEDVED

Urška Medved (1996) is a young artist from Slovenia. Art became a part of her life at a very young age in the field of contemporary dance.

​

She conducted her formal education at Secondary school Kranj and finished her bachelor’s degree in February 2021 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering at the department of Fashion and textile design. Her diploma work “Textile objects and performative arts” was awarded a faculty award of outstanding achievements.  She was always keen on traveling. That leaded her to attend an internship (2016) in the field of contemporary dance pedagogy in India where she spent 2 months teaching young kids at RYAN International School. Later she attended an ERASMUS Exchange (2018) at the university of Gothenburg at the department of Textil – Body - Space. During her stay in Sweden, she won Olga Birgfelts Konstpris for young artist in Bengsforsh.

She is currently exploring the connection between performance, body and textile art, questioning the importance of presence, space and time.
